ソウルイーター Soul Eater began as a manga series written and illustrated by Atsushi Ōkubo
The 51-episode anime adaptation first aired on April 7, 2008 on TV Tokyo. The series faithfully follows the plot of the manga until the first major battle against Arachnophobia, at which point it heads off on it's own tangent.
